Baltimore Unites for Hunger-Free Zone: A Successful Fundraiser at Zion Church

Baltimore recently witnessed a heartwarming display of community unity at Zion Church, where a fundraiser was organized to support the Hunger Free Zone food truck. Led by Georgia Howard and members from three local churches, the event aimed to combat hunger in the city. Honorary speaker Tiffanee Scott, founder of the Peer Advisory Group, added depth to the evening by highlighting the organization’s commitment to addressing drug abuse in Maryland. The event also featured a unique collaboration with local designers Sue’s Closet and OMyDevi, showcasing their creations through a runway show. Attendees could purchase these designs, with all proceeds going to charity.

The fundraiser took a moment to honor Steve Szili, owner of the Hunger Free Zone food truck, and recognized community pillars like Dr.Neeraj Verma and Dr.Christina Li. The active involvement of McDonogh School’s community service program underscored the importance of instilling empathy in the younger generation. The successful event raised an impressive $10,000 for the Hunger Free Zone, emphasizing the community’s collective power to make a positive impact. In conclusion, the fundraiser at Zion Church exemplified the strength of community bonds, demonstrating that through collaborative efforts, individuals can address critical issues such as hunger in Baltimore.
